What is Success - by Ralph Waldo Emerson
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To give of one's self;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived -
This is to have succeeded.

The passing of my lovely friend, Carole, will leave a huge hole in my heart.
Peter’s and my friendship with Carole and Chris has spanned over 60 years, and I was honoured to be Matron of Honour at their wedding in 1969.
Peter, who also passed away recently, would have joined me in feeling deep sorrow at her passing.
I so appreciated having such a loyal, steadfast and witty friend. I will miss our catch ups and messages which inspired, celebrated and comforted in equal measure, particularly during recent difficult times.
She will never be forgotten, and may she rest in peace.
Thank you for being my best friend, Carole.
